Curbside Vigil, Cantrell Street — South Philadelphia
Automotive, minivan, roof rack, weathered
Police Department, est. 2026
112 days on view
Curatorial note
Located on Cantrell Street, the piece sits at the curb as a patient, ordinary presence within the urban landscape. The raised windshield wipers and rust specks on the hood read as material traces of weather and time, while a small scrap of paper rests on the lower edge of the windshield. Commissioned by the Police Department and acquired in January 2026, it has occupied this curb for 112 days as part of the neighborhood's quiet archive of street-side objects. Its fixed position and unremarkable form invite steady attention as a durable sign of how city life keeps artifacts in place.
