The Opened Ground, Ruskin Road — Philadelphia
Asphalt surface, temporary barrier segments, orange-and-white stripes, curb edge
Streets Department, est. 2026
105 days on view
Curatorial note
Seen from the curb, orange-and-white barrier segments drape across a pavement opening, their diagonal line interrupting the asphalt. Acquired January 2026 in the Streets Department program, the work sits at 7438 Ruskin Road, adjacent to a parked white vehicle. Over 105 days on view, the piece has integrated into the streetscape as a persistent condition rather than a transient fix. The museum regards this work as part of a small typology of long-term urban interruptions within the neighborhood.
