The Stop Sign on its Side, Christian Street — South Philadelphia
Metal, traffic sign, toppled post, concrete sidewalk
Streets Department, est. 2026
103 days on view
Curatorial note
Seen at the Christian Street corner, the Stop Sign on its Side anchors the threshold between brick façades. The red octagonal face is oriented toward the camera, while a bent post crosses the sidewalk, turning a traffic device into a quiet sculpture of street life. Acquired January 2026 and on view for 103 days, the work marks a sustained component of the city’s streetscape.
