The Pothole's Quiet Occupation, S Front Street — South Philadelphia
Asphalt, pothole with traffic cone, roadway markings
Streets Department, est. 2026
100 days on view
Curatorial note
Seen at S Front Street, the work anchors the streetscape as a persistent seam in the pavement. The bright orange cone sits in a widening crack, its white bands contrasting with the jagged edge and dark cavity. Since acquisition in January 2026, the piece has occupied a fixed margin of the roadway, drawing daily attention from passersby. The museum regards it as part of a small, ongoing register of durable surface interventions in the South Philadelphia collection.
