Bare Vertical, Above the Outfield — Wissahickon Park

Curatorial note

The work's grey, fully bare crown reads clearly against the surrounding foliage, which remains in full late-summer leaf, and a limb snapped short at mid-height marks the highest point of visible structural loss. It stands within a few metres of the gravel path and directly above the fenced field, where a cut stump in the near foreground records an earlier removal on the same ground. On view since September 2026, the piece is among the museum's most recent acquisitions, and its formal development has been documented for only three days.
