Curatorial note

Seen at Bradford Alley, the dark asphalt patch anchors the corner where the curb and sidewalk meet the street. The presence of a storm drain grate at the upper right and the white bag in the lower left foreground ground the patch in the everyday rhythms of the street. Since January 2026, the patch has occupied the site, presenting the material logic of repair as a steady surface in the Bradford Alley streetscape. This acquisition anchors the museum's interest in long-standing street-level surfaces and the tactile history of Philadelphia's built environment.
