Curatorial note
Seen against the black iron railing, the dark gray SUV sits with a uniform dusting across its hood and roof, turning the surface into a matte plane. Since acquisition in January 2026, the work has occupied the curbside as a slow-durational presence within the streetscape. Commissioned by the Police Department, the piece situates the vehicle within an infrastructural network of response and governance. This work contributes to the Philadelphia collection's project of preserving long-standing, underrecognized features of the city's everyday life.
