Curbside Vigil, 1001 S Ithan St — South Philadelphia

Curatorial note

Seen in winter light, the blue patch on the hood anchors the vehicle’s material history. Across its 83 days on view, the car remains a curbside presence within the neighborhood’s daily flow, its paint loss and dust accruing as evidence of duration. Commissioned by the Police Department, the work sits within the museum’s program to document the endurance of municipal objects in public space.
